Research - Overview

Glial cells support normal brain development and function. Their roles are varied and range from being structural support cells to be being involved in brain signaling and possibly learning and memory. Many of these examples are briefly discussed on this webpage and are actively pursued by Scientists at the CGBM. Importantly, glial cells contribute to a number of nervous system diseases. This area of research, for which many examples are described on this site, is of particular interest to scientist at the CGBM and its Scientist. We believe that advancing our knowledge on the biology of glial and their function in health and disease provides us with hitherto untapped opportunities to develop novel clinical interventions and treatments in the future.
